itsblueberrycoffee: When a game uses a default placeholder image, players lack the context needed to make an informed choice Same for AI thumbnails. Are those excluded from “Custom thumbnails” or just as long as its not default it’s considered good to go?

Screenshots default thumbnail

Assume not, they stated only the default/placeholder thumbnails. AI should still count as “custom”. Everyone using AI now days if they detected that prob 90% home rec games will be gone.

I fail to see the negative point here. It would just be VERY good for genuine, quality, non-ai slop games

AI will never be “custom”, getting rid of all the Gen-AI slop on the home rec would be a massive W as it will show actual quality experiences and might fix Roblox’s rep a tad bit. W overall change btw

8_CV: Everyone using AI now days No we’re not

I’m just going off what I’ve seen personally on my home rec page meant more onto thumbnail wise. There may be a big group of people out there that don’t use AI but sadly it’s just not being shown. That’s why I mentioned everyone using AI. OTHERWISE unreleated from this announcement LOL. Yay… Forcing

8_CV: I’m just going off what I’ve seen personally on my home rec page meant more onto thumbnail wise. I think it really depends on the person and they’re recommendations/algorithm. Majority of the games that are recommended to me have normal thumbnails. The few that are AI generated stick out like

Can’t we just bring back thumbnails pulled from the most recent Studio save as the default?

DevForum

Wait I’m kind of confused. If I already upload thumbnails that already accurately represent my game, will I need to upload them again?

DevForum

good now make games with ai thumbnails uneligible aswell

DevForum
→ Neutral0 eng↗

Could probably suffice for the technical requirements to just yoink those images and reupload them as-is

DevForum

idk which games you see but its either fully ai generated or the ai assists to make it better

Ronin: No we’re not Yes we are, we are all a hive mind. We all are going to take over this platform, one player at a time, run as fast as you can. You can’t outrun the Internet. Every game will be vibe coded, minimum effort, slop, and there is nothing you can do about it. Error, rephrasing.. ahh yes

Then don’t let them use it. Chances are far higher that those games are slop if they’re using AI thumbnails too, and not letting them through would help getting that type off stuff off of the platform. Also, I’m pretty sure you don’t literally mean everyone as that would make you very wrong.

Will you also introduce countermeasures against AI-generated or AI-enhanced thumbnails? Too many games false advertising the content or being misleading about their quality.

I mean okay whatever honestly, This change feels kind of unnecessary tho

This comment just made me laugh. XD. Anyways… On topic, I don’t think most developers use placeholder/default thumbnails these days, unless their game is really really new and probably in beta or alpha testing, or said game is just a private development game, in which the developer doesn’t really ca
